The Language of Yoga: Sanskrit for Yoga Teachers and Students

  • Downtown Yoga Fargo Center 405 7th Street South Fargo, ND, 58103 United States (map)

Have you ever wanted to honor the practice of yoga by using Sanskrit in your teaching or practice, but felt intimidated by pronunciation, worry that it will confuse the class, or have fears about "getting it wrong"? You are not alone!

This two-hour workshop is designed to make Sanskrit accessible, approachable, and enjoyable. Whether you're a yoga teacher hoping to confidently weave Sanskrit into your class or a curious student wanting to deepen your understanding of yoga, this workshop will provide practical tools to understanding how to read, pronounce, understand, and share the language of yoga.

Together, we'll explore the history of Sanskrit within the yoga tradition, learn the Sanskrit alphabet and pronunciation guidelines, and discover how the practice of Sanskrit can enrich both your practice and teaching. We'll explore the stories and symbolism behind familiar Sanskrit words, helping them become memorable and meaningful.

No previous Sanskrit experience necessary. This workshop is not about perfect pronunciation or memorizing vocabulary. It's about building confidence, opening up to curiosity, and deepening your practice and teaching by honoring the language of yoga.
