Reawaken the Body: Therapeutic Yoga Somatic Class

Do you feel stiff and achy or a sneaky nagging pain somewhere? Does sitting for awhile
cause some stiffness in your hips, low back or neck and shoulders? Life experiences
can remove us from being fully aware of how to move freely. Muscles become
unconsciously contracted even in a resting state due to a reflection of stress.
The series of exercises or yoga moves learned in this class is designed to lengthen
muscles back to their natural, relaxed state and correct inefficient movement patterns.
Once the brain is made aware of the held contractions, it is able to release them back to
a relaxed state. When you actively engage yourself in the process, the muscles follow
and do what they are asked.
Most of the moves will be on the floor. Each move done slowly and mindfully helping to
amplify body awareness to awaken and release persistent stress-based patterns.


This is a 4 week series that will include:
- A somatic yoga practice
- A meditation practice; increasing our awareness of our emotional investment in
our physical bodies
- A handout including newly learned moves; practicing is key

This practice will diminish, correct and possibly eliminate chronic muscular pain, stiffness and
unconscious holding patterns.
